Professional Photographers of America.
Collages.net’s President and CEO Kevin Casey was recently appointed industry advisor to The Professional Photographers of America (PPA), the world’s largest professional photography association. “I’ve always liked what PPA does for the industry. It has one goal: to help photographers,” Kevin told Professional Photographer magazine this month. In the spotlight article, Kevin shares some industry insights and his experience starting Collages.net.
“The most successful studios keep current with the new trends, colors, and styles of products and services. In today’s competitive market, it is important to keep an open mind. Today’s customers want variety and choice, so exposing them to the products now available is a fundamental key to success.”
Outside the office, Kevin enjoys a unique hobby - boardercross. Kevin was encouraged to pursue this snowboarding race by his 22-year-old son, and is currently the 7th fastest boardercross racer in his age group!

Industry Tips.
Last month, an interesting article about releasing digital files appeared in Professional Photographer magazine. Many photographers are currently struggling with the decision whether or not to release these files to their clients, making it a controversial issue. Some do so without discretion, some for a price, and others not at all. The range is diverse. However, a survey included with the article revealed that 80% of photographers do sell, give away, or deliver digital files to clients in some way. What do you think? Do you release your digital files?
Please feel free to leave your comments and opinions.

Marketing Tips.
Would a client recognize your logo if they saw it? Ensure that the answer is always “yes” by using your studio logo as a marketing tool.
• Emboss it on the back of albums. Every time someone looks at them, they will be reminded of the studio who took the phenomenal images.
• Have your logo printed on the back of the high-end greeting cards your clients order. Next holiday season, their friends and family will know who to call!
• In any advertising you do, including e-mails, be sure to include your logo. The more exposure the logo gets, the more people will recognize your studio.

Don’t have a logo yet? Need help creating one? Click here for some tips from Collages.net.

Pro Tips.
This week’s professional tip comes from Drew Frank of Meadow Lane Photography. He shares how Collages.net studio samples have greatly increased his sales and impressed customers.
Drew stresses the importance and effectiveness of studio samples, describing how they have greatly benefited his studio: “I have also found tremendous success in studio samples – I keep one wedding proof book and one senior proof book in my studio. Everyone that has seen these books has absolutely loved them. They give a beautiful, high-end presentation, which is becoming huge at my studio. Studio samples are extremely valuable; trying to describe a product is one thing, but when a client can actually put their hands on it, see and feel the quality, and flip through the pages at their own pace, the product speaks for itself.”
Collages.net’s high-quality, custom products are eye-catching, and keeping studio samples on-hand is an effective way to increase product sales. Drew recalls one occasion in which he, “almost had to stop the interview so the client could salivate over Collages.net’s products.” To read all of Drew’s tips, click here.
Did you know that Collages.net offers 30% off studio samples? To view our complete line of products and order your studio samples, click here.
